Also, I can recommend beating your washing against a rock down at the river. I avoided hand-washing as we have a Laundromat in my neighbourhood. Do they have those in the UK? They have coin operated machines etc. Also, no one here would be without a tumble dryer. I live in Canada and our weather is rather prohibitive for much outdoor drying. However I do love my clothesline and we have had great fall weather. Great post! I would argue that from the point of view of a woman's life, the invention of the washing machine made as great an impact as the pill. The poor Victorian servant would take all week to get the washing done, only to have to start all over again the next week, then the next week...Ugh!
The washing machine isn't a modern convenience, it's a modern necessity! (Incidentally, I would have paid money to see you in a washing woman's hat, having a communal scrub-a-long! What an image!)
Thanks for brightening up a rather dull Friday.
Best wishes
EllieEllie Fosterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12437259693600577503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1441164155286448763.post-2441013221735490472016-10-07T09:35:48.751+01:002016-10-07T09:35:48.751+01:00Please do take time to read all of Kirsty's di...Please do take time to read all of Kirsty's dialogue on these pictures; it will make your day!
