I'm sure you're right about the syphilis (not fun) but there's something about the wildness of all these women especially Sandys that's compelling, maybe it's the admission of fear? They're also so challenging (giving a bite is down right odd) and some of them are particularly feral. I suspect that a reactionary Victorian gent reading 'bite me your grace' ( whilst never letting his wife, daughter, or servants near such a book) wouldn't find much to worry him in it. It's what my career is based on, seemingly.<br /><br />Victorian vampires are an interesting thing, as witnessed recently in Penny Dreadful.
