The French film has aged really well, surprisingly, especially when you compare it to stuff like the contemporary Wuthering Heights with (I think) Timothy Dalton, or someone like that. I think it was fairly low budget and the production values probably won't endear it to today's audiences but I do remember particularly the way they showed the sisters spending their evenings walking round the table in the parlour and talking; also the way the father would wind up the clock before going to bed every night (and which he does in the final sad scene right at the end after Charlotte has died). I might get it as well as the French one for nostalgia's sake...WoofWoofhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14142792485921452481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1441164155286448763.post-90050907667784125852016-04-14T23:30:28.555+01:002016-04-14T23:30:28.555+01:00Sally Wainwright has a new Brontes dramatisation i...Sally Wainwright has a new Brontes dramatisation in production, which sounds like it should be very good. Barry Norman once wrote something to the effect that 'he could happily spend the rest of his life counting the freckles on Isabelle Huppert's face', which to this day I can't quite decide if I find sweet or creepy.
Thank you for your Marie Sparteli Stillman review the other day. I made my first visit to the Watts Gallery on Tuesday, had a tour around the house and was blown away by the chapel. I have been meaning to go for ages and it was such a treat.
SarahSarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10394083091621008146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1441164155286448763.post-65873031693712497572016-04-11T20:57:37.094+01:002016-04-11T20:57:37.094+01:00Oh, I so love this film, that's one of my favo...Oh, I so love this film, that's one of my favourites !
Thank you for your so lovely review, dear Kirsty !

Hope your week is off to a great start, I wish you most wonderful days to come,
with love and thankfulness

DanielaDanielahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01759677667896507266noreply@blogger.com
